Description
Minolta MD 135mm f3.5 Short Telephot
Minolta MD 135mm f3.5 Short Telephoto (Serial 1091751).
Perfectly working and clean short telephoto. Great for portraiture for those on a budget but a good general purpose prime lens.
The 135mm lens forms part of the ‘holy trinity’ of lenses for most photographers which comprise a wide angle, standard 50mm and short telephoto like the 135mm.
This one is optically perfect, very clean with a nice smooth focus and snappy aperture having been rebuilt by us.
There is a small scuff on the edge of its beauty ring where someone less experienced has scuffed one of the spanner slots. This has no effect on the lens in operation and apart from that the lens is in great cosmetic condition. This lens has a built in lens hood.
Will fit any Minolta manual focus 35mm SLR with SR/MC or MD mount and will provide correct metering connection for X series cameras with program mode as it is an MD series lens.
Supplied with an original Minolta rear cap and a clone front cap.
This lens was introduced in 1979 as a budget lens to compliment Minoltas range of cameras featuring full Program mode which required the MD fitting. Technically this is an MDII lens.
Diaphragm is a 6 bladed design and the lens is very sharp when stopped down to around f8 and the lens has a built in lens hood.
The lens came to us with haze and a semi stuck focus. Someone had obviously tried to open it up as the beauty ring spanner slots are scuffed. The lens was completely stripped and rebuilt with fresh lubricants suitable for it. It now runs perfectly.
Haze caused by vaporised oil (common with MD series lenses) has been removed. Lens internals cleaned and the aperture is snappy and reactive. Because this lens was rebuilt for our own use it was never photographed in strip down.
Please be aware that the cameras and lenses for sale can be up to 50 years old. They have been serviced and/or checked and are always as good as they can be made, but please don’t expect them to be flawless as if they were made yesterday.
All lenses of this age exhibit some small particles of dust and coatings are not up to modern standards. Cameras will exhibit some wear signs and likewise may have small dust specks in their viewfinders or focus screens. These do not affect the picture in any way.
ANY problems or issues will be described in the main text which you are advised to read carefully. If you are unfamiliar with film cameras we suggest you do some online research and read the manuals which are freely available from online resources.
We are enthusiastic film fans and spend our time hunting cameras and lenses that have been or are being unloved. We then spend hours to bring them back to fully working and clean condition, ready for a new lease of life with you We always change the film seals, give the camera a clean/service and make sure its fully working before we sell it on to you.
Most lenses are cleaned, re-lubricated and all of their functions checked prior to sale so you know they will work, full details will always be in the text. All items are packed safely for transit using proper packing material NOT something the cat was sick in. Having been stung both on eBay and by dealers alike who often know very little about film cameras we decided to offer people a chance to experience film using a camera that will last for many years and which we can say for sure works reliably
