Tamron Adaptall 2 –  24mm f2.5 Wide Angle Lens (Serial No. 900102) Model 01B

Excellent optical and functional condition.  Exterior barrel shows some signs of wear and use.

The Tamron 24mm produces excellent photographs.  While not in the premier league with the exotic Minolta, Olympus and Nikon 24mm lenses it will produce extremely good results at a fraction of the price of  premium lenses.
This one is in excellent functional condition with near pristine optics and a snappy and reactive diaphragm.

This model is provided with an Adaptall II mount for Minolta SR/MC/MD fittings the mount can be changed over to suit almost any 35mm SLR.  If you want a different mount we may well be able to supply it if you message us to ask.

The very large front optic needs protection so we will include a UV filter to keep the glass mint.

Supplied with end caps (non-original).

Tamron were among the best of the third party lens manufacturers in the heyday of 35mm film. Their Adapatall system allowed their lenses to be mated to a wide range of cameras from all of the major manufacturers.  Tamron build quality is generally excellent and in many ways the construction is superior to many of the OEMs.  Almost all interior an exterior parts are metal and we have seldom seen one ever need lubrication or suffering from hazing caused by inferiour lubricants.

Overall this lens is a very good example of the Tamron optical design team’s skills at balancing a fast maximum aperture and optical performance across the entire field of view. This is exactly why the Tamron 24mm is one of our favorite wide angle fixed focal length lens — the F/2.5 aperture is fast enough for very low light situations, yielding images which are just slightly soft, yet this lens produces very satisfactory images at F/5.6 or smaller apertures under normal lighting conditions.

Note that Tamron’s later cosmetically redesigned model 01BB features the same optical design as this model 01B.

This lens was obtained by us in excellent condition and apart from some mild exterior cleaning has had little done with it.  It has been test shot and found to produce good results.

Please be aware that the cameras and lenses for sale can be up to 50 years old.  They have been serviced and/or checked and are always as good as they can be made, but please don’t expect them to be flawless as if they were made yesterday.

All lenses of this age exhibit some small particles of dust and coatings are not up to modern standards. Cameras will exhibit some wear signs and likewise may have small dust specks in their viewfinders or focus screens.  These do not affect the picture in any way.

ANY problems or issues will be described in the main text which you are advised to read carefully. If you are unfamiliar with film cameras we suggest you do some online research and read the manuals which are freely available from online resources.

We are enthusiastic film fans and spend our time hunting cameras and lenses that have been or are being unloved. We then spend hours to bring them back to fully working and clean condition, ready for a new lease of life with you  We always change the film seals, give the camera a clean/service and make sure its fully working before we sell it on to you.

Most lenses are cleaned, re-lubricated and all of their functions checked prior to sale so you know they will work, full details will always be in the text. All items are packed safely for transit using proper packing material NOT something the cat was sick in. Having been stung both on eBay and by dealers alike who often know very little about film cameras we decided to offer people a chance to experience film using a camera that will last for many years and which we can say for sure works reliably
