Description
Zorki 4 Rangefinder with Jupiter 8 Lens
Zorki 4 Rangefinder with Jupiter 8 Lens – A fully working Zorki 4 complete with a 50mm Jupiter 8 lens and case.
The camera was acquired as a fully serviced unit around 5 years ago as part of a film project but is now no longer required. The camera has been tested on our professional tester and the shutter speeds are well inside specification. The rangefinder has been calibrated to work perfectly with the supplied lens.
The camera is overall very clean though the lens does show quite a lot of wear.
Buyers should be aware the Zorki is quite a tricky camera to use being from an age when ease of use was not high on the design priorities.
The shutter speed dial shows some fading, Zorki fans will know the silk screening can start to fade on these.
As with other Soviet-era rangefinders, the shutter speed selector rotates when the shutter is released, and should not be changed until after the shutter has been cocked. If the shutter speed is changed without cocking the shutter first, the setting pin can be broken when the film is advanced.
Camera will be supplied with a UV filter and lens cap plus its original case.
The Zorki 4 was possibly the most popular of all Zorki cameras, with 1,715,677 cameras made by the KMZ factory in Krasnogorsk, Russia. The Zorki 4 was also the first of the Zorki cameras to be exported in large numbers to the west. It is a fully manual camera, and does not have a lightmeter. An additional lightmeter may be added by the cold shoe.
The Zorki 4 started shipping in 1956 and is a budget clone of the Leica M3 which launched 2 years before.
The Zorki 4 was changed to the Zorki 4K in 1972 which is essentially the same camera wbut with a more conventional film advance crank rather then the knurled knob type advance on the original Zorki 4.
The camera was acquired as a fully serviced unit from a Zorki specialist repairer. We have seldom used it over the last 5 years.
All lenses of this age exhibit some small particles of dust and coatings are not up to modern standards. Cameras will exhibit some wear signs and likewise may have small dust specks in their viewfinders or focus screens. These do not affect the picture in any way.
ANY problems or issues will be described in the main text which you are advised to read carefully. If you are unfamiliar with film cameras we suggest you do some online research and read the manuals which are freely available from online resources.
Most lenses are cleaned, re-lubricated and all of their functions checked prior to sale so you know they will work, full details will always be in the text. All items are packed safely for transit using proper packing material NOT something the cat was sick in. Having been stung both on eBay and by dealers alike who often know very little about film cameras we decided to offer people a chance to experience film using a camera that will last for many years and which we can say for sure works reliably
