Description
Soligor 35mm f2.8 SR/MC Mount Lens
General
Soligor 35mm f2.8 SR/MC Mount Lens: A very clean example of an early Soligor 35mm f2.8 Lens (serial 17116943) for Minolta SR/MC mount. The lens lacks an MD tab which a Minolta MD mount equipped camera would require to use the lens in Program mode but the lens will fit any SR/MC/MD mount and be fully usable in either manual or Aperture Priority Mode.
We used an identical lens on our own Minolta XD and found the results extremely good. We’d have no doubt this one would perform every bit as well. There are sample pictures from a slightly later copy of this lens provided.
The optics are very clean and near mint. The barrel shows only minor wear typical of a well cared for lens of this age. Focus is smooth with an excellent feel and the aperture is suitably snappy and reactive.
An all metal lens and high quality construction. The serial number shows this was made for Soligor by Tokina in 1971.
An excellent 35mm lens which offers an alternative to the very highly priced Minolta Rokkor equivalents.
Supplied complete with and original metal Soligor front cap and a generic rear cap.
About
Soligor were a supplier of optical equipment in the 1970s. Their lenses were made by a range of other lens manufacturers such as Tokina, Kobori, Komine and Tamron. The most commonly encountered Soligor branded lenses are usually Tokina made.
Tokina were, and still are, a high quality manufacturer and this usually shows in Soligor lenses which are almost always made to a very high standard.
Restoration
The lens was acquired in good overall condition needing only cleaning. When we first cleaned it we noticed a tiny defect on the extreme outer edge of the front glass but have been unable to see it since – it’s that hard to find! But we like to be 100% honest with full disclosure with all of the gear we sell.

Please be aware that the cameras and lenses for sale can be up to 50 years old. They have been serviced and/or checked and are always as good as they can be made, but please don’t expect them to be flawless as if they were made yesterday.
All lenses of this age exhibit some small particles of dust and coatings are not up to modern standards. Cameras will exhibit some wear signs and likewise may have small dust specks in their viewfinders or focus screens. These do not affect the picture in any way.
ANY problems or issues will be described in the main text which you are advised to read carefully. If you are unfamiliar with film cameras we suggest you do some online research and read the manuals which are freely available from online resources.
We are enthusiastic film fans and spend our time hunting cameras and lenses that have been or are being unloved. We then spend hours to bring them back to fully working and clean condition, ready for a new lease of life with you We always change the film seals, give the camera a clean/service and make sure its fully working before we sell it on to you.
Most lenses are cleaned, re-lubricated and all of their functions checked prior to sale so you know they will work, full details will always be in the text. All items are packed safely for transit using proper packing material NOT something the cat was sick in. Having been stung both on eBay and by dealers alike who often know very little about film cameras we decided to offer people a chance to experience film using a camera that will last for many years and which we can say for sure works reliably
